Second Tree US is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting refugee empowerment programs in Greece.
Our founders were volunteers from the US who met working for humanitarian organizations in Greece. After returning home, they were inspired to continue supporting refugee empowerment programs that first and foremost treat refugees as people.
Second Tree US supports educational and integration programs in Greece that reach over 2,500 refugees and asylum seekers.
In the US, the team advocates for refugees: for their right to education, to safety, to empowerment, and, most importantly, to be treated like people.
OUR MISSION
We empower refugees with the skills they need to participate in their new community.
OUR VISION
A society in which fundamental rights, equitable access to resources, and a healthy environment are granted to all.
Our name comes from the proverb:
“The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is now.”
We believe it’s never too late to make a difference!
